Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion, Phantom Liberty, are overall fantastic games. The open world is stunning, Cherami Leigh’s voice acting is stellar, the immersion is incredible, and the action gameplay is a blast. However, the game suffers from severe ludonarrative dissonance and ends with some of the most frustrating and disappointing conclusions I've ever encountered. The endings feel out of touch with the personal journey players invest in, especially when they’ve shaped V into their own character over hundreds of hours.
My V was not meant to face a grim fate simply due to the writers' apparent obsession with misery-driven endings. I refuse to accept this as the conclusion to my story. Instead, I’m crafting an alternate ending where V thrives beyond "The Star" ending. There’s no logical reason for Songbird not to assist V in her redemption or for the magical "AI from beyond the Blackwall" to be permanently lost after its initial use. V and Songbird had the potential to grow closer, and so, my version of V will survive, reclaim her destiny, and continue to be a formidable force in Night City, fighting against corrupt corporations. This alternative ending allows me to preserve my enjoyment of the open world after the unsatisfactory credits roll.
It’s disappointing to see CD Projekt Red, a company I’ve supported since 2007, deliver such a letdown. I’m disheartened by their dismissive attitude towards player expectations and experiences. But despite this, I am determined to create a resolution that respects the character and narrative I’ve grown attached to.
Let’s make things right for V!
V sat in a weathered chair at the edge of Panam’s camp, cradling a steaming cup of coffee between her hands. The camp, nestled in the Badlands, was a sanctuary from the chaos of Night City. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of orange and purple across the sky, V found solace in the tranquility of the moment.
The distant hum of the camp's generator provided a steady backdrop as Judy approached, her presence marked by a gentle, reassuring warmth. Without a word, she leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to V’s lips. The gesture was tender and filled with unspoken understanding.
Judy settled beside V, resting her head on V’s shoulder. For a while, they simply watched the sunset together, the peaceful silence speaking volumes.
"What do you think the future holds?" Judy asked softly, her voice barely more than a whisper.
V took a sip of her coffee, savoring the warmth. "I’ve come to peace with whatever comes next," she replied, her tone calm and reflective. "We’ve fought so hard, and I’m grateful for every moment we have now."
Judy squeezed V’s hand gently. "We’ve made a good life here. Whatever happens, we face it together."
Before V could respond, the familiar chime of a new message notification interrupted their moment. V's heart skipped a beat as she pulled out her holo-device, her fingers moving quickly to check the new message. The screen flickered to life, displaying an encrypted message from an unexpected source: Songbird, now on the moon.
The message from Songbird began to play, her voice tinged with a mixture of disbelief and gratitude.
“V, I can hardly believe it’s you I’m speaking to. I’m stunned that you didn’t offer me up to Reed and the NUSA, despite everything I did. I thought I’d lost any chance of redemption, but here I am, trying to make things right.
I can’t begin to express how deeply thankful I am for the chance you gave me to make amends. I regret betraying you, especially after all you’ve done for me. It’s something that haunts me daily, and it just didn’t feel right to let it end like this, with me as nothing more than a betrayer.
I couldn’t let it end on such a somber note. I’ve been searching tirelessly for a way to help you. And I found something—a new cure. It’s an AI from beyond the Blackwall. I know it sounds unbelievable, but it’s real. This AI has the potential to resolve the issues you’re facing, but it’s not something that can be accessed easily.
If you can make it to the moon, the cure is yours. I can’t promise it will be straightforward—there are complications and dangers involved. But if you can get here, I’ll make sure you have access to it. It’s your chance at freedom and a new beginning.
The path won’t be easy, but I believe you can find a way. I’m waiting for you here, hoping that this message might be the start of something better.”
The message ended, leaving V and Judy in stunned silence. The promise of a new cure and the opportunity for a fresh start seemed both distant and tantalizingly close.
V and Judy stared at the holo-device, their expressions a mix of disbelief and elation. The unexpected message from Songbird had stirred a surge of hope they hadn’t felt in a long time. Judy’s eyes sparkled with tears of joy, and V’s lips curved into a smile as a profound sense of possibility washed over her. Without a word, they drew close, their emotions overflowing. Their lips met in a deep, passionate kiss, a mingling of tongues and breath that conveyed their shared relief and renewed hope. The kiss lingered, a silent promise of the future they dared to dream of.
Judy’s excitement was palpable as she pulled away from the kiss, her eyes wide with a renewed sense of purpose. Without wasting a moment, she sprinted toward the center of the camp, her voice ringing out with urgency.
“Panam! Mitch! You have to come see this!”
Panam and Mitch, busy with the evening’s preparations, looked up in surprise. The urgency in Judy’s voice quickly drew them over to where V sat, still processing the message. As they approached, Judy began recounting the news, her words tumbling out in a breathless rush.
Panam’s eyes widened with astonishment and joy. “You’re telling me there’s a cure? After everything?” She glanced at V, who nodded, a smile spreading across her face. Mitch’s expression mirrored Panam’s disbelief, followed by a broad grin.
Panam’s emotion was evident as she crossed the distance in a few strides, pulling V into a tight, heartfelt embrace. “We’ve got to find a way to get you there,” she murmured, her voice thick with emotion. “You’ve been through so much, V. We’re going to make this work.”
Mitch clapped V on the back, his grin never fading. “We’ll get you to the moon. Whatever it takes.”
The camp buzzed with a renewed energy, as the Aldecaldos rallied around V, their shared hope igniting a determination to see this journey through. The promise of a cure and the prospect of a new beginning had rekindled their spirits, bringing them closer together as a family united by a common goal.
V sat close to the fire, the warmth a welcome contrast to the chilly night air. Wrapped in a thick blanket, she shivered slightly, her weakened body reminding her of the urgency of their quest. Beside her, Judy shared the blanket, their shoulders touching, offering a comforting presence.
"I still can't believe it," V murmured, staring into the flickering flames. "I never thought we'd hear from Songbird again."
Judy nodded, her gaze distant. "Yeah, after everything that happened... I had given up hope. But now, we might have a real chance."
They fell into a contemplative silence, the crackling fire the only sound between them. "Life and death," V mused quietly. "It's funny how close they always seem to be. One moment, you're here, alive, fighting... and the next, you could be gone."
Judy squeezed V's hand gently. "But you're still here, V. And we're going to fight for every moment we've got left. For you."
A soft smile touched V's lips. "Thanks, Judy. I don't know what I'd do without you."
Judy leaned in closer, her breath warm against V's ear. "Let's not think about that. Let's just take it one step at a time."
The conversation drifted into a more intimate tone, their closeness offering solace amidst the uncertainty. Judy's fingers traced small patterns on V's arm, the contact sending a shiver down her spine. "I'm tired," Judy whispered after a while, her voice soft and inviting. "Let's go to bed."
V nodded. They stood, still wrapped in the blanket, and began walking toward their tent. The night air was cool against their faces, and the sound of the Aldecaldos' quiet conversations and laughter faded behind them. V felt Judy's steady presence beside her, a grounding force as they approached their tent.
Judy unzipped the tent flap, holding it open for V. Before stepping inside, V took one last look at the camp. The firelight cast long, dancing shadows across the ground, illuminating the faces of their nomad family. Despite the pain and fatigue, a faint smile crossed V's lips. They were united in this journey, and that gave her strength.
With a final glance at the fire, V ducked into the tent, the fabric rustling softly behind her. She could still hear the distant laughter and the crackling of the fire as she settled down, feeling a sense of peace amidst the chaos. The promise of a new dawn loomed on the horizon, and with Judy by her side, V felt ready to face whatever came next.
The night had been a tender dance of passion and vulnerability, a momentary escape from the encroaching shadows. V and Judy had found solace in each other’s arms, their shared warmth and whispered words a testament to the bond they had forged amidst the chaos of their lives. The intimacy they shared was more than physical; it was a deep connection, a reaffirmation of life and love in the face of looming uncertainty.
As the first sliver of sunlight pierced the tent’s fabric, V stirred. The soft light warmed her face, coaxing her eyes open. Beside her, Judy lay peacefully, her nude form half-covered by the rumpled blanket they had shared. V took a moment to admire her, the gentle rise and fall of her chest, the delicate curve of her neck, the serene expression that softened her features in sleep. Judy's beauty was undeniable, her skin glowing softly in the dawn light, a contrast to the harsh realities they often faced.
V carefully extricated herself from the blanket, feeling the cool morning air against her own bare skin. She moved slowly, her body still frail from the relentless condition that plagued her. A sudden cough racked her frame, and she brought a hand to her mouth, feeling the unwelcome warmth of blood. A grim reminder that their time was running short.
Unzipping the tent flap, V stepped outside, the crisp air filling her lungs. She looked out over the vast Arizona landscape. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a golden hue over the rugged terrain. Distant cacti stood as silent sentinels, and the faint calls of desert birds echoed in the stillness. A jackrabbit darted across the sandy ground, its movements quick and fluid, evidence of the resilience of life in this harsh environment.
As she stood there, absorbing the tranquility of the scene, a familiar voice broke the silence. "Hey!" Judy called softly from behind her.
V turned slightly, a small smile playing on her lips despite the pain. The beauty of the morning and the promise of a new day brought a fleeting moment of peace. For now, they had each other, and that was enough.
Judy emerged from the tent, pulling the blanket around her shoulders to ward off the morning chill. "You're up early," she remarked, her voice soft and affectionate. "Couldn't sleep?"
V shook her head, looking back at the horizon. "Just needed some fresh air. Everything feels... different now. Like maybe we actually have a chance."
Judy nodded, her eyes reflecting a mix of hope and determination. "We do. And we're going to make the most of it."
Later, as the camp began to stir and the smell of coffee wafted through the air, Judy found a quiet moment to herself. She picked up her holo recorder, settling down in a secluded corner of their tent. She hesitated, feeling a bit awkward as she began to speak.
"Heeeey V... I know what you're thinking... Why is my crazy output leaving a message on the machine while I'm making breakfast...." She laughed softly, shaking her head. "Well, you know me... I get... mushy when it gets to sharing so what the hell... I figured I'd just tell you here..."
Judy paused, searching for the right words. "V... I just wanted you to know that... I'm happy... For the first time in my life..." Her voice caught slightly, her Latina accent more pronounced with emotion.
"... And I wanted you to—"
"Rise and shine, breakfast on the table!" V's voice interrupted, filled with a renewed energy that brought a smile to Judy's face.
Judy chuckled, looking at the holo recorder. "Speak of the devil..." She blew a kiss toward the recorder, a silent promise of the love and happiness they were building together.
The clan was gathered around a long makeshift table for breakfast. The scent of strong coffee and freshly cooked food filled the air, mingling with the sounds of the camp coming to life. V sat next to Judy, who squeezed her hand reassuringly. Across the table, Panam, Mitch, and a few other key members of the clan were deep in discussion.
“We need to figure out how to get V to the moon,” Panam said, her brow furrowed in concentration. “A round trip costs 500,000 eddies. There’s no way we can come up with that kind of money in time.”
Mitch nodded, his expression serious. “It would take months to gather those funds, and we all know V doesn’t have that long.”
V glanced around the table, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on her. “So, what do we do? We can’t just give up.”
Mitch leaned forward, a spark of intrigue in his eyes. “There is another way. It’s risky, but it’s our best shot.”
Everyone’s attention turned to Mitch, anticipation hanging in the air. “What’s the plan?” Judy asked, her voice steady but filled with concern.
Mitch took a deep breath. “There’s a cheaper way to get to the moon. We can buy a ticket to the Crystal Palace for 10,000 eddies. Once there, V can steal a shuttle and make her way to the moon base on Tycho. It’s dangerous, but it’s our best shot.”
Panam looked at V, her eyes full of determination. “It’s risky, but it could work. We don’t have many options left.”
Judy nodded in agreement. “If this is the best way, then we have to try. We’ll find a way to make it happen.”
V took a deep breath, feeling a surge of hope mixed with trepidation. “Alright. I’ll let Songbird know we have a plan. Let’s do this.”
She stood up from the table, the weight of the decision settling on her shoulders. As she walked to her tent, she couldn’t help but feel a mix of anxiety and excitement. This was her chance—a dangerous, uncertain chance—but a chance nonetheless.
Inside her tent, she pulled out her holo-device and began composing a message to Songbird, her fingers moving with determination.
“We have a plan. I’m coming to the moon.”
A few days had passed since the plan had been set in motion. The Aldecaldos had traveled from Arizona to Texas and now found themselves at Cape Canaveral, which was owned by Orbital Air. V stood by the launch pad, ready to board a shuttle to the Crystal Palace. Judy was by her side, along with Panam and Mitch.
Panam nudged V with a grin. “You ready for this, V? It’s not every day you get to steal a shuttle.”
V chuckled, trying to keep the nerves at bay. “I’ve done crazier things. But I’ll admit, it’s been a while since I felt this out of my element.”
Mitch glanced at the security bots patrolling the area. “Just keep your head down and stick to the plan. Those bots aren’t too friendly.”
Judy squeezed V’s hand. “And remember, your combat apps, including your mantis blades, are deactivated for security reasons. You’ll have to rely on your wits.”
V sighed, looking down at her hands. “Feels like I’m naked without a gun. Guess I’ll have to steal one once I get to the Palace.”
Panam laughed. “That’s the spirit. Just don’t go starting any trouble until you’re ready to make your move.”
Mitch handed V a small chip. “This has the coordinates to Tycho. We pulled some strings with our contacts to get it. All you need to do is insert it into the shuttle’s navigation slot once you’ve stolen it.”
V took the chip and nodded, her resolve hardening. “Got it. Get to the Palace, steal a shuttle, insert the chip, and make my way to the moon.”
Judy pulled V into a deep kiss, her emotions pouring into the embrace. When they finally pulled apart, Judy whispered in Spanish, “Puedes hacerlo, mi amor.”
V smiled, touched by the sentiment. “I’ll be back soon. I promise.”
With one last look at her friends, V turned and boarded the shuttle. The hatch closed behind her, sealing her in for the journey ahead. As the engines roared to life and the shuttle began to lift off, V took a deep breath, focusing on the task at hand. The Aldecaldos’ faith in her was a powerful motivator, and she was determined not to let them down.
The shuttle rocketed into the sky, leaving the Earth behind. V’s thoughts drifted to Judy, Panam, and the rest of her family. She was doing this for them, for the chance at a future free from the past’s shadows. The moon awaited, along with the promise of a new beginning.
As the shuttle ascended, the familiar blue of Earth's sky gradually deepened to a dark, inky blackness. V felt a mix of awe and trepidation as the shuttle breached the atmosphere, the vast expanse of space unfolding before her. The gentle hum of the engines was the only sound, a stark contrast to the chaotic noise of Night City.
V’s thoughts drifted back through the whirlwind of events that had brought her to this moment. She remembered her first meeting with Jackie Welles, the gruff but kind-hearted mercenary who had become her closest friend. They had bonded instantly over a smuggling job, sneaking a rare iguana into the city. V smiled wistfully, hoping Judy wouldn’t forget to give the iguana its weekly bath. It had become a small but cherished part of their new life together.
Her smile faded as her mind replayed the night of the Arasaka heist. Jackie’s death was a wound that had never fully healed. She saw him, mortally wounded, trying to escape the job gone wrong. His dead, glassy eyes haunted her, a reminder of the high cost of their ambitions.
The image of Jackie’s lifeless eyes morphed into the cold, cybernetic gaze of Adam Smasher. She could still feel the recoil of her shotgun as she fired point-blank, ending the reign of the cybernetic demon who had terrorized so many. It was a victory, but it brought her little solace.
Finally, she heard Johnny Silverhand’s voice in her mind, his parting words echoing with a fierce resolve: “Never stop fighting.” Those words had driven her through some of the darkest times, and they would carry her now, into the unknown.
V snapped out of her reverie, the memories fading as she refocused on the task ahead. She was on a journey to the moon, seeking a cure and a chance at a new life. The stars outside the shuttle window seemed to shine brighter, as if lighting her way forward.
As the shuttle approached its destination, V caught sight of the bright lights of the Crystal Palace through the window. The massive space station loomed ahead, a dazzling resort for the rich and powerful. The lights blinked in every color imaginable, illuminating the cold expanse of space with their decadent glow.
She glanced around the shuttle and saw only well-dressed corpo families, sipping on expensive alcohol and laughing as they talked about money and economics—subjects she had never fully understood. It was clear she was the only nomad here, an outsider among the elite.
For a moment, she imagined Johnny’s engram appearing by her side, delivering one of his scathing tirades against the opulence and excess filling the shuttle. She could almost hear his voice dripping with sarcasm and disdain, cutting through the superficial conversations around her.
V smiled at the thought, realizing that even though Johnny was gone, his influence had fundamentally changed her perspective. There was a time when being among these people would have been her dream—Jackie’s too. But after everything she had been through with Johnny, there was no way she could ever see this life the same way again.
Turning her gaze back to the window, she saw the Crystal Palace drawing closer, its sheer size and splendor almost overwhelming. It was a stunning sight, a gigantic station glittering with an array of lights, each one a testament to the wealth and extravagance of its inhabitants.
A beep sounded, and a voice announced the imminent boarding. V took a deep breath, steeling herself for the next phase of her journey. The mission ahead was dangerous, but she was ready. Johnny’s words echoed in her mind once more: “Never stop fighting.”
And with that resolve, she prepared to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
V stepped off the shuttle, her boots echoing on the metallic surface of the docking bay. The Rotating Docking Core of the Crystal Palace hummed with a low, constant buzz. She looked around, taking in the surroundings: a vast spaceport filled with activity, yet somehow subdued by the sterile, clinical atmosphere.
Robots moved efficiently, their mechanical arms lifting and transporting cargo with precision. Guards with ESA badges—European Space Agency—stood at various points, their presence a constant reminder of the authority that governed this floating metropolis. V scanned the area, noting the multitude of screens displaying advertisements for luxury goods, upcoming events, and messages extolling the virtues of life in space.
Wealthy individuals strolled through the spaceport, their designer clothes and haughty expressions contrasting sharply with the utilitarian environment. Despite the affluence, there was a coldness to the place, an undercurrent of control and surveillance that permeated every corner.
Not wasting any time, V headed towards the central elevator. This colossal metallic platform was the heart of the station’s transport system, designed to move hundreds of people up and down the central cylinder to the five toroidal rings. She squeezed through the crowd, her eyes set on the second ring: the residential area where the emergency shuttles were located.
The elevator loomed ahead, an industrial behemoth of steel and wires, its square shape stark and functional. V stepped onto the platform, joining the mass of people waiting for their descent. The space was crowded, filled with the hum of conversation and the faint clinking of metal.
The platform shuddered and began its slow descent, the vibrations resonating through the metallic structure. Mechanical sounds filled the air—whirring gears, the hiss of hydraulics, the groaning of the massive elevator as it moved down the central cylinder. V held onto a railing, the sensation both unsettling and exhilarating.
Minutes passed, each one marked by the rhythmic sounds of the elevator's machinery. V kept her focus, her mind set on the task ahead. The stakes were high, and there was no room for error.
The elevator finally came to a stop with a soft thud, and the doors slid open to reveal the second ring. V stepped out into a world that seemed almost too perfect to be real. The residential area was a stark contrast to the industrial core of the station. Clean, sterile streets lined with pristine buildings. Manicured parks and sparkling fountains. The air was filled with the scent of flowers and the gentle hum of automated maintenance drones.
V walked forward, blending in with the crowd of affluent residents. The next steps would be crucial, and she needed to stay focused. As she moved deeper into the ring, her resolve hardened. The path to the emergency shuttles lay ahead, and she would reach Tycho no matter the cost.
V moved through the pristine streets of the Residential Ring, her senses on high alert. The stark contrast between this sterile, controlled environment and the gritty, chaotic reality of Night City was impossible to ignore. In Night City, grime and corruption seeped into every crevice, the neon lights casting harsh shadows on the dirty streets. Here, everything was clean, perfect, and soulless.
As a Nomad, V was used to living in the dirt, constantly fixing broken machinery with her Aldecaldo family. The rough, hands-on lifestyle of the Nomads felt worlds away from the sanitized perfection of the Crystal Palace. She couldn't help but think of her Aldecaldo family, their makeshift homes, and their resilient spirit. Everything here felt artificial, detached from the raw reality she had always known.
The Residential Ring was like a clean, safe Las Vegas. Bright, flashing lights adorned the casinos, their multi-colored displays inviting the wealthy residents to try their luck. Pools sparkled under artificial sunlight, and embassies for powerful corporations like Arasaka, Militech, and Storm Tech stood as imposing symbols of corporate dominance. An advanced monorail zipped along the ring, transporting people at breakneck speeds.
V thought of Johnny Silverhand, and a wry smile tugged at her lips. He would have vomited at the sight of all this. "Corpo scum," he'd say, "ruining Earth wasn't enough for them. Now they're out here, ready to ruin the stars." His disdain for corporate greed was something they shared, and she felt a pang of loss, missing his rebellious spirit.
By contrast, thoughts of Judy brought warmth to V’s heart. She imagined booking a luxurious hotel room with her, enjoying the casinos and amenities this ring had to offer. The idea of sharing a night of carefree fun, away from their struggles, was tempting.
But she had a mission. V remembered the emergency shuttles were located in EXO-41R, an underground area of the Residential Ring. She needed to get there fast. The monorail was the quickest way, traveling at a blistering 248 kilometers per hour, allowing it to circle an entire ring in a minute and a half.
V boarded the monorail. The cityscape blurred outside the windows as the train sped along its track. In no time, she reached the EXO-41R station.
Stepping off the monorail, V found herself in a maintenance area. Massive warehouse-like buildings surrounded her, with technicians busily working on various maintenance robots. The area was functional, filled with the hum of machinery and the occasional burst of sparks from welding.
She knew she stood out in her civilian clothes. Technicians in uniform moved about, some engaged in repairs, others monitoring systems. Guards patrolled the area, their eyes scanning for any signs of trouble.
V needed a disguise. Her civilian outfit made her conspicuous, and she couldn’t afford to draw attention. She scanned the area, formulating a plan. She’d have to get past the guards and blend in with the technicians. It was her only way to reach the emergency shuttles without raising suspicion.
As she moved deeper into the maintenance area, her mind raced with possibilities. The path ahead was fraught with danger, but she was determined. This was her chance to get to Tycho and find the cure. She had come too far to back down now.
The next step was clear: find a maintenance uniform, avoid the guards, and get to the shuttles.
The emergency shuttle's thrusters ensured a swift journey, far more advanced than the days of the Apollo missions. As the shuttle hurtled through space, V felt a sense of relief wash over her. There were no alarms, no alerts, just the quiet hum of the shuttle's systems. For a few hours, she had a chance to breathe.
During the trip, V shed her oil-splattered disguise. The shuttle, surprisingly well-equipped for emergencies, had a compact but luxurious shower unit. She stepped inside, turning the water on full blast. The hot water cascaded over her, caressing her curves delicately, relaxing her toned, athletic muscles. Her warm caramel skin glistened, droplets tracing the intricate tattoos that adorned her body.
V leaned against the shower wall, feeling the tension in her body melt away. The foam gathered at her toes, swirling down the drain along with the sweat and grime of her journey. She closed her eyes, letting the water cleanse her, both physically and mentally.
Her thoughts drifted to Judy, who was back on Earth. She could almost feel Judy's touch, her comforting presence. The memory of their time together brought a bittersweet smile to V's lips. Judy was her anchor, her reason to keep fighting. But Judy was not here, and V had to face this challenge alone.
As she rinsed the last of the oil from her skin, V's thoughts turned to Songbird. What had she been up to these past few months? V knew she had reached the moon, but beyond that, it was a mystery. Songbird had betrayed her before, yet she had also reached out with a potential cure. Was this another false lead? V had been lied to and betrayed so many times that trust was a fragile thing.
But hope was all she had left.
The water continued to run, the sound mingling with her racing thoughts. She could only hope that this journey would bring her closer to a cure, to an end of her suffering. For now, that hope had to be enough.
V turned off the shower, the warm water slowing to a trickle before stopping entirely. She stepped out, her tanned, athletic but curvy body glistening in the dim light. Water droplets clung to her skin, tracing the contours of her muscles and curves. As she tiptoed across the cool floor, the sudden chill in the air caused her nipples to harden, standing out against her damp skin.
She wrapped a soft white towel around herself, feeling the luxury of its texture against her body. It was a stark contrast to life with the Aldecaldos, where showers were a rare indulgence and dirt was a constant companion. For a brief period in Night City, as a top merc, she had enjoyed this kind of luxury. Those days before the chip forced her to storm Arasaka Tower to reach Mikoshi seemed like a different lifetime.
She wrapped another towel around her hair, dyed blue and pink. Even after joining the Aldecaldos, she had kept up with her hair dye. It was a part of her identity, a connection to her past glory. She was once the top merc in all of Night City, the one-woman army who took down the cybernetic nightmare named Adam Smasher. She had kept Rosalind Myers, the president of the NUSA, alive in Dog Town. Although they had ended up as enemies since V helped Songbird escape, she had liked the woman during their brief time together.
V's thoughts wandered to Rosalind Meyers' figure in tight jeans during their stay in the Dog Town apartment. For a fleeting moment, she wished they could have gone on that dinner date they had joked about. A naughty smile played on her lips but quickly faded as she recalled what happened to Solomon Reed.
She remembered facing Reed just as she was about to seat Songbird in the shuttle. He had ordered her to put Songbird down, but V had overheard Rosalind Meyers ordering Songbird killed. V couldn't take the risk. Her last words to Reed were pained, "I'm sorry, maaaaan..." as she shot him in the heart. She recalled him falling to his knees, dead, but refusing to collapse entirely on the ground. She wished it hadn't come to this.
A beep at the front of the shuttle pulled her from her reverie. The moon loomed large in the window, its surface detailed and stark. V realized she needed to get dressed. She quickly donned her clothes, the urgency of her mission pulling her focus back.
V returned to the shuttle controls, her nerves on edge. A voice crackled through the comms, demanding identification. "Purpose, number of passengers, cargo—state your business," the Tycho security controller ordered.
V took a deep breath, answering as best she could, "Passenger, one. No cargo."
The controller hesitated, "I'm going to run a check. You're in an emergency shuttle from Crystal Palace, but I’m not aware of any emergency."
A knot of stress tightened in V’s stomach. As the security agent prepared to continue, another voice spoke over him, drowning out his words, "We’re taking control of the ship."
V instantly recognized the voice—it was Songbird. She bit her lip to suppress any sign of recognition, aware of the delicate nature of their reunion.
The shuttle was guided towards a hangar opening in the lunar surface. As it descended, V took in the stark monochrome landscape—endless shades of white, grey, and black, even the lights cast a sterile white glow. The shuttle touched down smoothly, and the ramp lowered.
V stepped out and saw So Mi—Songbird—waiting for her. The sight of her brought a wave of relief. "So Mi," V breathed, a mixture of emotions flooding her. They embraced warmly, the tension of months apart melting away in that hug.
"I'm so glad to see you," V said, her voice cracking slightly.
"So am I," So Mi replied, holding her tightly.
"I thought I’d never hear from you again," V admitted, and suddenly, the weight of all those stressful months hit her. She broke down, tears streaming down her face.
So Mi comforted her, stroking her back gently, "It's okay, V. You're here now. We'll fix this."
They began walking down a well-lit corridor, the harsh lights casting long shadows. V took a moment to compliment So Mi on her appearance, noting the stunning red and gold dress adorned with feathers. "You look incredible, So Mi."
So Mi's eyes softened with appreciation, "Thank you, V. If I could blush, I would."
They continued, and So Mi began explaining, "I know the situation has changed. Johnny Silverhand is no longer the issue. He was extracted by the Alt Cunningham AI after you connected to Mikoshi, which essentially turned you into an engram yourself. Now, your body is rejecting your own engram. But I’m confident my new AI cure can reverse it."
"How do you know for sure?" V asked, desperate for reassurance.
So Mi's expression turned serious. "I’ve been working with some very influential people. One of them knows things that even frighten me. Trust me, V... He knows."
V’s curiosity piqued, "Who is this person?"
"You'll meet him soon," So Mi replied, her tone leaving no room for doubt.
With that, they continued down the corridor, the promise of a cure and a new beginning hanging in the air.
So Mi led V through the pristine corridors of the lunar base, their steps echoing softly on the polished floor. The sterile white and grey surroundings were a stark contrast to the gritty streets of Night City. As they approached a heavily secured room, the door slid open, revealing a man with strikingly bright blue eyes that seemed to pierce through V's soul.
"V, meet Mr. Blue Eyes," So Mi introduced, her voice carrying a note of reverence.
Mr. Blue Eyes stepped forward, his gaze as intense as the midday sky. "V, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. I've followed your exploits from the moment you set foot in Night City. From that heist gone wrong to your audacious assault on Arasaka Tower. You've proven yourself time and again."
V studied him, noting the subtle yet undeniable signs of his true nature. It was clear that Mr. Blue Eyes was an AI inhabiting a human-looking body, his movements too smooth, his knowledge too vast.
"I can cure you," he continued, "using my expertise combined with a rogue AI we captured from beyond the Blackwall. It's the same technology that was used to help So Mi."
V's eyes widened. "You're the one who provided So Mi's chip?"
Mr. Blue Eyes nodded. "Yes. Now, I can offer you the same lifeline. But there's a condition. I need you to work for me, as my agent in Night City."
V's heart sank. "I don't want to go back to that city."
Mr. Blue Eyes leaned forward, his gaze unwavering. "Night City is your destiny, V. You were drawn there for a reason. Your skills are unmatched, and you can make a difference from the shadows."
V hesitated. "What exactly are you trying to achieve?"
Mr. Blue Eyes' expression softened. "I'm aiming to dismantle the corrupt power structures that dominate our world. To take down the corporations like Militech, Arasaka, and others, and to rebuild society from the ground up. It's an ambitious goal, but one that's worth pursuing."
V was stunned. She thought of Judy, the Aldecados, and her life with them. "I've built a life with them. They mean everything to me."
So Mi stepped in, her voice gentle but insistent. "V, your talents are extraordinary. No one else has managed to strike such a blow against Arasaka. You can't let that potential go to waste."
Mr. Blue Eyes' gaze was unyielding. "Do you really want to spend the rest of your life in the dirt, when you could be making a real difference?"
V recalled the feeling of the hot shower in the shuttle, the luxury she had missed. She also remembered wanting to take Judy on romantic, luxurious nights in hotels, even on the Crystal Palace.
"What would this entail?" V asked.
"Special missions, espionage, targeted eliminations of corporate operatives," Mr. Blue Eyes replied. "You'd work from the shadows, with So Mi as your ally, and with my resources and knowledge backing you."
V thought of Johnny Silverhand. Despite his rebellious nature and disdain for authority, he would have been thrilled at the idea of taking down corporations one by one. He would have urged V to accept the offer.
"I need to talk to Judy and the Aldecados," V said, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
"Why didn't you tell me this before?" V asked So Mi. "Why wait until now?"
"I wasn't sure you would come if you knew the full story," So Mi admitted. "I needed to get you here first."
V nodded slowly. It made sense. She paused, contemplating the weight of her decision. Finally, she took a deep breath and said, "Alright. I'll do it."
She agreed to the offer, but her mind was still clouded with worry about Judy and the Aldecados.
Songbird smiled in relief, her eyes reflecting genuine belief that V had made the right choice. Mr. Blue Eyes nodded confidently, his gaze steady and assured, as if everything was falling into place exactly as he had envisioned.
V sat in the sterile, silver room, the clinical gown draping loosely over her athletic frame. The cold, metallic atmosphere contrasted sharply with her anticipation. She took a deep breath and activated the holo, reaching out to Judy, Panam, and the Aldecados.
Judy’s face appeared first, her expression lighting up when she saw V. “Hey, you! How’s it going?”
“Hey, Judy. I’ve got some news. I’m going to be cured,” V said, trying to keep her voice steady. “I’m waiting for the surgery now. Songbird is here with me.”
Panam’s image flickered on the screen, her eyes widening with relief. “That’s great news, V! We’ve been worried sick.”
V nodded, a lump forming in her throat. “I wish I could tell you more, but for now, just know that I’m in good hands. I’ll be back soon.”
She could sense Judy and Panam’s happiness, but she held back the urge to divulge more about Mr. Blue Eyes and the new role she was to take on. She bit her lip, swallowing the words she wasn’t ready to share.
Just then, So Mi walked in, dressed in a skin-tight body catsuit that accentuated her curves. V couldn’t help but notice, feeling a brief flicker of arousal that she quickly pushed aside, focusing on the gravity of the situation.
So Mi sat next to her, her presence calming. “You ready?”
“Yeah, as ready as I’ll ever be,” V replied, trying to sound confident.
“The procedure involves the Cerebral Pathway Modulator,” So Mi explained. “It’s a sophisticated device designed to interact with your brain using a NeuroFilament Probe.”
V looked at her, trying to grasp the complexity. “And how exactly is this going to work?”
So Mi continued, “We’ll put you to sleep, and the NeuroFilament Probe will be placed on your brain. It’ll allow the AI to reconstruct your neural pathways, fixing the damage.”
V raised an eyebrow. “And this is going to take only a couple of hours?”
So Mi nodded, understanding her skepticism. “I know it sounds incredible, but the AI operates at a speed we can’t comprehend. It’ll be repairing thousands of neurons per second. What seems impossible for us is routine for it.”
V took a deep breath, her anxiety easing slightly. “So, no major side effects?”
“Nothing major,” So Mi reassured her. “You’ll need to stay in bed for a day or two, but that’s it.”
She reached out, grabbing V’s hand delicately. “Don’t worry. You’ll be fine.”
A nurse entered the room, her demeanor professional. “Everything is ready.”
V and So Mi exchanged a final smile and a look of mutual understanding. V stood up, feeling a surge of determination. “I’m ready.”
V stirred, her senses slowly returning as the grogginess from the anesthesia began to fade. Her body felt heavy, her mind sluggish, as if she were emerging from a thick fog. She blinked, her vision blurry at first, gradually sharpening to reveal a familiar face.
“Welcome back, sleeping beauty,” So Mi said, a warm smile spreading across her face.
V managed a weak smile in return. “Prince Charming, huh? Seems like you saved me from eternal slumber.”
So Mi chuckled softly, pulling up a chair to sit beside V’s bed. “How are you feeling?”
“A bit strange. Groggy. Like my head’s full of cotton,” V admitted, trying to sit up slightly. “But... I’m here. I’m alive.”
“You’re more than alive,” So Mi replied, her eyes sparkling. “You’re free.”
They shared a light conversation, the kind that felt easy and comforting after the tension of the past months. V asked about the details of the surgery, and So Mi recounted some of the steps, avoiding the more technical jargon.
“It was pretty smooth,” So Mi said. “The Cerebral Pathway Modulator did its job, and the NeuroFilament Probe worked perfectly. Your neural pathways are reconstructed. You’re whole again, V.”
V sighed in relief, feeling the weight of those words. “Thank you, So Mi. I can’t even begin to express how much this means.”
So Mi moved closer, placing her cybernetic hand gently on V’s arm. Their eyes met, a moment of unspoken understanding and closeness passing between them. It was as if the bond forged through their shared struggles had deepened, bringing them to the brink of something more.
Just as the moment seemed to stretch, Mr. Blue Eyes walked in. “How’s our patient doing?”
V broke eye contact with So Mi, turning to Mr. Blue Eyes. “I feel... different. Better. But still a bit out of it.”
“The surgery was a total success,” Mr. Blue Eyes confirmed. “Your brain has been rewired without a hitch. Your vitals are in the norm, so there’s nothing to worry about. You’re reacting normally to the post-surgery phase.”
V nodded, the reality of her situation slowly sinking in. “I can’t believe it’s over. That I’m cured.”
Mr. Blue Eyes gave a satisfied nod. “You need to rest now. We’ll be back tomorrow to check on you.”
With that, he and So Mi left the room, leaving V alone to rest. She lay back, her attention drawn to the view from her bedroom window. Outside, she could see expansive greenery and large hydroponic farms used to generate oxygen on Tycho. The vibrant green in below the surface of the moon was both surreal and beautiful.
As she reflected on what had just happened, a profound sense of peace settled over her. She was cured, free from the nightmare that had been forced upon her. The invasive presence of Johnny Silverhand, despite their eventual camaraderie, had felt like a violation—a constant reminder of something forced into her mind against her will. Now, that chapter was closed.
For the first time in what felt like an eternity, she felt whole again. Her life was her own. With that comforting thought, she allowed herself to slip back into sleep, at ease and at peace with the world.
The room was warm, though still bearing a clinical sterility that reminded V of a high-tech training facility. Positioned in a corner, V was deeply engrossed in her workout. Her bare feet moved nimbly across the mat as she unleashed a series of powerful punches and kicks on the heavy bag. She wore skintight black yoga pants and a snug sports bra that held her ample breasts firmly in place. Her body, rugged and athletic, moved with the precision of a seasoned fighter, muscles rippling under the sheen of sweat that covered her skin. Each strike was accompanied by a low, throaty grunt, her smokey voice adding a raw edge to the scene. Electrodes dotted her body, monitoring her heart rate and brain activity.
Observing her were So Mi and Mr. Blue Eyes. The latter stood tall and impassive, hands clasped behind his back, clearly impressed by V's demonstration of strength. So Mi, however, was entranced by V's form, her eyes tracing every curve and flex of muscle.
After a while, V turned towards So Mi and asked, "What do you think, Song?"
So Mi, momentarily caught off guard, replied, "You're in perfect condition, V. Everything checks out."
Mr. Blue Eyes nodded in agreement. "Yes, V. You're ready to return to Earth. Once there, I'll be in touch, either directly or through Songbird, to discuss your upcoming missions. Your initial assignments will be in Night City."
V groaned playfully. "Oh, really? Why not Tokyo or Seoul? I've never been outside of the NUSA. And I've always had a thing for Asian girls..."
She spoke without much thought, but her words sent a shiver through So Mi.
So Mi's cybernetic heart stuttered for a moment before she responded, "The highest priority targets are in Night City. It's where the most significant threats are located."
Mr. Blue Eyes allowed a slight smile. "Don't be too eager, V. There's plenty to tackle in Night City, but you'll eventually have the chance to operate elsewhere."
V, transformed from the sick, despondent person she had been under the Arasaka chip's influence, felt a surge of vitality.
Mr. Blue Eyes departed, leaving with the promise, "I'll see you at the spaceport for your departure."
Left alone, So Mi felt an unexpected arousal at the scent of V's sweat, struggling to maintain her composure. "Did you talk to Judy and the others?" she asked, trying to focus.
V's demeanor turned serious. "Yeah, I did."
"And?" So Mi urged gently.
"I didn't mention Mr. Blue Eyes or the specifics of my new role. I just told them the cure worked and that I found a job with an agency on the moon. It's the right kind of job, one that makes a difference. Panam, Mitch, and the family were supportive, though they'll miss me. Judy was happy until I mentioned I'd have to return to Night City for a while. Her smile faded, and she muttered some Spanish curses before disconnecting."
So Mi offered reassurance. "It's only for a few months."
"Even a week is too long for Judy," V replied with a mix of frustration and disappointment, landing a few more punches on the bag.
"She'll come around," So Mi said with conviction.
V nodded, though her expression remained doubtful. "I'm going to take a shower," she announced, walking away.
So Mi's gaze followed V as she walked away, admiring the powerful grace of her athletic legs and the confident sway of her hips. As V disappeared into the shower area, So Mi couldn't help but feel a pang of regret, knowing that her own body, with its 90% cybernetic components, could never match the natural beauty she admired in V.
A flash of conflicting emotions crossed So Mi's face, torn between the reality of her cybernetic existence, and her growing carnal desire. She felt a single, warm drop of bodily fluid trail down her inner thigh, a stark reminder of her own yearnings and the delicate balance she was treading.
Emerging from the shower, V felt a cool freshness against her skin. As she stepped back into her room, her eyes landed on a dress laid out on the bed. It was a short, white dress adorned with silver lines that caught the light. It was the kind of dress that spoke of intimacy, a gift more suited for a boyfriend to his girlfriend. She felt a mix of confusion and embarrassment at how revealing it was.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a holo-message from Songbird. The message appeared with a cheerful, "Let's party tonight! Wooooooooh!"
V scoffed, shaking her head slightly. "What is this?" she muttered, responding to Songbird.
"Are you serious? V, you beat death itself! If that's not a cause for celebration, I don't know what is!!!" Songbird's message flashed back.
V couldn't help but smile at Songbird's enthusiasm. She saw the point. After all the pain, misery, and anguish, it was indeed time to cut loose a bit. She grabbed the dress, feeling a surge of excitement mixed with trepidation.
As she dressed, she took her time, savoring the process. The dress was tight and short, hugging her curves in a way that was both sensual and empowering. She ran her hands down the smooth fabric, feeling its coolness against her skin. Her hair fell in soft waves around her shoulders as she styled it, and when she looked in the mirror, she saw a side of herself she hadn't acknowledged in a long time. Her legs, long and smooth, were accentuated by the high heels. She was used to camo pants and tactical boots, not this level of femininity. For the first time, she felt truly beautiful and desirable.
Stepping out into the streets of Tycho, V felt a slight embarrassment at how short the dress was. Her high heels clicked against the pavement, and she struggled a bit with the unfamiliar footwear. Heads turned as she passed by, men and women visibly stunned by her exotic beauty. The dress, a vibrant red, complimented her skin tone and her dyed hair, making her look like a vision from another world.
She arrived at the Chrome Oasis, still feeling a bit uncomfortable. But her tension melted away when she saw Songbird waiting at a table. Songbird looked stunning in a short dress that revealed her half-human, half-cybernetic legs. Her feathers were golden, glimmering under the lights. She gave V a sultry look, welcoming her with a smile.
"You look amazing," V commented, sliding into a chair opposite Songbird.
"You too," Songbird replied, her eyes gleaming with admiration.
They chatted lightly, complimenting each other on their appearances before diving into more serious topics. V asked about So Mi's background, and So Mi recounted her history as a prodigy hacker, recruited by the NUSA and trained by Solomon Reed. She spoke about her desire to break free, a desire that V had helped fulfill.
V, in turn, shared her own story. She talked about her nomadic life before coming to Night City with a guy named Jackie Welles. She spoke fondly of Jackie, describing him as a goofball she treated like a little brother. Her mood darkened as she recounted the Arasaka chip heist and how Jackie had bled out in the Delamain cab.
Seeing V's mood drop, So Mi leaned forward. "Hey, how about a dance?" she suggested, startling V.
"What? I can't dance for shit," V protested, but Songbird's cheerful insistence won her over. Grabbing V by the wrist, she pulled her to the dance floor.
The music pulsed around them, and V followed So Mi's lead. Soon enough, she got the hang of it. The beat led to some sexy postures, and on several occasions, So Mi's butt rubbed against V's pelvic area, sending sparks of arousal through both of them. The whole thing remained playful, but there was an undeniable tension building between them.
Fueled by alcohol and the hypnotizing beat, they grew closer, their movements more synchronized. Their lips met in a kiss that was intense and electrifying. V felt So Mi's hand on her butt, pulling her closer. Their tongues danced, their saliva mingling in a moment of pure connection. So Mi was in charge, dominating V in a way that left her breathless.
When they finally pulled away, V was stunned but not displeased. She was just unsure of what to think. So Mi, on the other hand, smiled with visible joy.
V followed So Mi to her apartment in Tycho, feeling a mix of anticipation and nervousness. The apartment was sleek and modern, with a large window offering a breathtaking view of the subterranean city. The lights of Tycho twinkled like stars, casting a soft glow over the room.
So Mi led V inside, her hand gently holding V's. The apartment was cozy yet sophisticated, a perfect reflection of its owner. The tension between them was palpable, a quiet electricity that charged the air.
As they moved closer, So Mi's eyes locked onto V's. There was an unspoken understanding, a shared desire that needed no words. V's heart pounded in her chest, a thrilling mix of excitement and nervousness. They stood by the window, the city below them a silent witness to their growing intimacy.
So Mi leaned in, her lips brushing against V's in a tender kiss. It was soft at first, a gentle exploration, but quickly grew more passionate. Their tongues intertwined, a dance of desire that left them both breathless. So Mi's hands roamed over V's body, caressing her curves with reverent touch.
V responded in kind, her fingers tracing the lines of So Mi's cybernetic enhancements, marveling at the seamless blend of flesh and technology. Their kiss deepened, a fiery connection that ignited their senses. V felt a wave of desire wash over her, pulling her closer to So Mi.
They moved to the bed, their bodies entwined. So Mi's touch was both gentle and commanding, guiding V into a state of pure bliss. V's hands roamed over So Mi's form, exploring every inch of her with a mix of curiosity and reverence. The room filled with their soft gasps and sighs, a symphony of pleasure that echoed their deep connection.
As they lay together, their bodies intertwined, V felt a sense of bliss. So Mi's touch was magic, a healing balm that soothed her soul. They took turns pleasuring each other, their movements synchronized in perfect harmony. Each kiss, each caress, brought them closer, their connection deepening with every touch.
The sensation of So Mi's lips on her skin sent shivers down V's spine. She felt the warmth of So Mi's breath against her most intimate places, a gentle exploration that left her trembling with desire. V returned the favor, her own lips and tongue discovering the taste and texture of So Mi's skin, a sensual dance that left them both breathless.
Their connection was intense, a beautiful melding of souls and bodies. V felt herself surrendering to the moment, lost in the pleasure and intimacy they shared.
They drifted off to sleep in each other's arms, the lights of Tycho casting a gentle glow over them.
In the quiet aftermath, V pressed a gentle kiss to So Mi’s forehead, their breaths slowly returning to normal. They held each other close, basking in the warmth of their shared connection, knowing that this moment was a rare and precious gift in the chaotic world they inhabited.
So Mi smiled, a contented sigh escaping her lips. “That was incredible” she whispered, her fingers brushing through V’s hair. “I’ve wanted this since the first time I laid eyes on you outside Dogtown, you know?”
V raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in her eyes. “Really? Since Dogtown? I must’ve made quite an impression.”
So Mi laughed softly, the sound like music in the dimly lit room. “You did. There was something about you, something I couldn’t resist.”
V chuckled, shaking her head in amusement. “Well, I have a confession to make too. I checked out your butt every chance I got, even when you were a hologram.”
So Mi’s eyes widened in mock surprise, a smile tugging at her lips. “Seriously? My holographic butt?”
“Yep,” V teased, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “And I can confirm, the real one is much better.”
They both laughed, the sound filling the small apartment with warmth and affection. V leaned in, capturing So Mi’s lips in a tender kiss. It was a kiss filled with unspoken promises and shared dreams, a testament to the bond they had formed.
Pulling back slightly, V looked into So Mi’s eyes, a soft smile playing on her lips. “I’ve wanted you too, you know. From the moment I saw you, there was something about you that drew me in.”
So Mi’s smile widened, her heart swelling with joy. “I’m glad we finally found each other,” she whispered, her voice full of emotion.
They hugged tightly, holding each other close as if afraid to let go. The world outside the apartment ceased to exist, leaving only the two of them in their own little bubble of happiness.
As they settled back into the bed, their bodies fitting together perfectly, V pressed one last kiss to So Mi’s forehead. “Goodnight, So Mi,” she murmured, her voice heavy with contentment.
“Goodnight, V,” So Mi replied, her eyes already closing as she drifted off to sleep.
Both women had been prisoners in their own ways—So Mi, a caged bird under the relentless control of the NUSA, forced to use her prodigious hacking skills for their gain, and V, a victim of the Arasaka chip that threatened to erase her very existence. They had each been trapped, used, and abused by forces beyond their control. Yet, through their struggles, they found each other, two souls who understood the suffocating weight of captivity. Now, there was a profound sense of freedom and solidarity between them. They had helped each other break free from their cages, and in each other, they saw a reflection of their own journey towards liberation. This bond, born from shared pain and triumph, made their connection all the more powerful.
V awoke to the soft hum of Tycho's morning, a tranquil rhythm so unlike the chaos of Night City. As she blinked sleep from her eyes, the enticing aroma of breakfast pulled her fully into consciousness. Her vision cleared to reveal So Mi, approaching with a tray and a radiant smile.
"Morning, sleeping beauty," So Mi said, placing the tray gently on the bed.
V stretched, feeling a pleasant ache from the previous night. "Morning. This is a pretty nice wake-up call."v
They exchanged lighthearted banter as V began to eat. So Mi, seated beside her, watched with a blend of anticipation and nervousness.
"So, about last night..." So Mi started, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "Do you regret it?"
V shook her head firmly. "No, I don’t regret any of it."
A wave of relief softened So Mi’s features.
"How are we going to make this work, though? I’m heading back to Night City, and you’re stuck here on Tycho."
So Mi took a deep breath. "I’ll only be on Tycho for a few more weeks. As soon as I wrap up things here, I’ll join you in Night City."
V raised an eyebrow, concern evident in her eyes. "Is that really safe? Rosalind Myers is still after you."
"Don’t worry," So Mi reassured her. "Mr. Blue Eyes has eliminated all the tracking devices the NUSA planted on me. I’m off their radar now. I’ll be fine."
V nodded, feeling a bit more at ease.
So Mi continued: "What about Judy? Have you spoken to her since she stormed off when you mentioned Night City?"
V sighed deeply. "I did. It took some persuading, but she agreed to return to Night City with me for a while. It’s going to be tough for her, but she’s doing it because she loves me."
She looked away, guilt flickering across her face. "What’s Judy going to think when she finds out about us?"
So Mi reached out, clasping V’s hand. "I’m okay with sharing you with Judy. I’m open to a polyamorous relationship. I know you care for her too, and I promise I’ll never come between you two. We can make this work, all three of us."
V smiled, a weight lifting from her shoulders. "I’m more worried about Judy’s reaction. She can be pretty possessive."
So Mi inched closer, their faces almost touching. She gently ran her fingers through V’s hair, a comforting gesture that made V feel safe. "We’ll talk to her together. I’m optimistic she’ll come around."
V nodded, holding on to that hope. "I don’t want to lose either of you."
"You won’t," So Mi said with conviction.
A playful glint sparkled in So Mi’s eyes. "Now, hurry up and finish your breakfast. There's something else that needs your attention afterward."
As V took her last bite, So Mi leaned back on the bed, slowly untying her yukata. The fabric fell open, revealing her body, a mesmerizing blend of human and cybernetic beauty. She spread her legs, offering herself to V with a silent, inviting gaze.
V burst into laughter, nearly spilling her food. "You’re impossible."
They both laughed, the tension dissolving. Joy filled the room as they savored the moment, their bond deepening with every passing second.
The bustling spaceport of Tycho was alive with activity. V stood amid the commotion, making sure she had everything she needed for the journey ahead. She glanced at So Mi, gratitude and affection clear in her eyes.
"Thank you, So Mi," V said, her voice steady but warm.
So Mi smiled, her expression tender. "You earned this, V. You saved me even though you knew the original cure wouldn't be there for you. That leap of faith... it's paid off."
Turning to Mr. Blue Eyes, V extended her thanks. "And thank you too."
He responded with a cryptic smile. "No need for thanks."
V's gaze sharpened. "I know what you mean. I'm just an asset to you, and you're protecting that asset."
Mr. Blue Eyes didn't deny it, but his expression remained sincere. "I assure you, my intentions are genuine. I hold no ill will towards you or humanity. Quite the opposite, in fact. So Mi trusts me, and I hope in time, you will too."
V nodded, cautious but slightly reassured. Mr. Blue Eyes continued, "The shuttle will take you straight to Night City. I've arranged a corporate apartment for you, and there's a Caliburn sportscar waiting at the NCX Spaceport parking lot."
V's eyes widened in surprise. "I didn't expect that."
He smiled. "Additionally, I've transferred 500,000 Eurodollars to your account."
V was taken aback. "Why?"
"You're now my agent in the field. I'll cover all necessary expenses."
V couldn't resist a final, teasing question. "But seriously, Blue Eyes, what are you?"
His smile remained, eyes twinkling with mystery. "Everything will be revealed in time. Have a safe flight, V. I'll be in touch." With that, he turned and left.
Alone with So Mi, V felt a wave of emotion. So Mi broke the silence. "Mr. Blue Eyes forgot to mention something about Judy."
V's curiosity was piqued. "What about Judy?"
"He arranged for her transport to Night City. He covered everything. Judy will be waiting at NCX."
They moved closer, whispering intimately. So Mi's voice was soothing. "I'll join you soon. Once you're at the apartment, set up a call with Judy. We'll talk about a polyamorous relationship."
V's worry was evident. So Mi gently placed a hand on V's cheek, drawing her gaze back. "It'll be okay. Trust me."
They closed their eyes, sharing a deep, passionate kiss filled with love. A call came for V to board the shuttle.
She pulled away, taking one last look at So Mi. "See you soon, Song."
So Mi nodded, waving as V walked toward the shuttle. The door closed behind her, sealing her fate for the journey ahead.
V strode through the bustling terminal of NCX, her thoughts racing as she made her way toward the parking lot where the Caliburn awaited. The familiar chaos of Night City enveloped her, a cacophony of noise and motion that felt both alien and achingly familiar after her months away. Memories of her assault on Arasaka flooded back—the countless bodies she had left in her wake, the vivid, haunting image of Adam Smasher crushing Saul under his metallic foot, the chilling words, "fucking meat," echoing in her mind. She shuddered, recalling the sickening crunch of Saul's skull. Smasher had been a nightmare incarnate, refusing to die until she ended him herself.
As she walked, V knew she had to stay vigilant. Despite all of Mr. Blue Eyes' precautions, she was still in enemy territory, and Arasaka would undoubtedly attack her on sight. She passed by the Departures area, noting the new bulletproof glass that had replaced the shattered walls from her previous rampage. Through the glass, she saw the spot where she had shot Solomon Reed to free So Mi, a pang of sorrow piercing her heart.
But she pushed the grief aside, her determination flooding back. Night City loomed large in her mind, a monstrous entity she addressed directly. "You tried to take everything from me, and you failed. Look at me, bitch. I'm still standing, and I'm back to kick your ass. This time, I’m the one doing the fucking. If Blue Eyes isn’t lying, we’re gonna have some fun. Night City, I’m gonna take you down from the inside." A confident smirk spread across her face. "Your days are numbered, bitch."
Lost in her thoughts, she finally reached the car lot. A familiar voice pulled her back to reality. "Hey V!" Judy was leaning against the hood of the Caliburn, a playful grin on her face. "Long time no see, hey?"
V smiled, her heart warming at the sight. "It’s only been a week," she said softly.
Judy pushed off the hood, her tomboyish attire accentuating her curves, tattoos of ocean motifs vivid on her skin. "For me, it felt like an eternity." She sought reassurance, and V dropped her bag, pulling Judy into a tight embrace. Eyes glistening with emotion, she whispered, "I fucking missed you too, Jude."
Judy hugged her back, their eyes closed, heads resting on each other’s shoulders. They kissed passionately, a reunion of longing and love. V confessed her fear that Judy might not come, might change her mind at the last minute. She knew how much this city pained Judy, from Evelyn Parker’s tragic fate to the struggles with the Mox gang.
Judy bit her lip, eyes watering. "It’s hard being back, but with you, I’ll be fine. It’s only for a few more months, right? Then we’re off for good?"
"Absolutely," V assured, loving the way Judy wiped her eyes, looking like a cute little raccoon. She made a comment about it, and they both laughed, breaking the tension.
Judy asked, "So... where to, V?"
"Blue Eyes got us a high-class fancy corpo apartment, if you can believe that."
Judy grinned, her accent thick with playfulness. "I caaaaaan. He even paid for a first-class flight with champagne and a cute stripper."
V raised an eyebrow, and Judy laughed, reassuring her. "Don’t worry, you’re my only woman."
As they drove along the central highway toward the apartment, V hesitated but used the stripper comment to broach the idea of threesomes. Her anxiety spiked, but Judy's reaction was surprisingly open. "I don’t know, V... wouldn’t it be odd? I mean, if I loved someone and loved you... maybe?"
Judy’s expression shifted as realization dawned. "Do you... do you have someone in mind? Someone you haven’t told me about?" Her irritation was palpable.
V struggled to respond, which only fueled Judy's anger. "Stop the car," Judy demanded. V tried to dissuade her, but Judy's voice was firm. "Stop the fucking car!"
The Caliburn screeched to a halt, and Judy stormed out. V followed, her heart pounding.
V hurried after Judy, the weight of their conversation hanging heavy between them. Judy's strides were quick and determined, her shoulders tense. V could see the turmoil in her eyes, the conflict that mirrored her own internal struggle.
"Judy, wait," V called out, her voice laced with desperation.
Judy spun around, her eyes flashing with a mix of anger and hurt. "What, V? What else is there to say? You slept with someone else while I was waiting for you! On the fucking moon!?"
V took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "It's not what you think, Judy. So Mi... she was different. We were both in a bad place, and we found comfort in each other. It wasn't planned. It just... happened."
Judy's expression hardened. "Comfort? Is that what you're calling it? V, we had an understanding. We were supposed to be honest with each other."
"I know," V said softly, taking a step closer. "I want to be with you, Judy. More than anything."
"And yet, you couldn’t wait a week and you slept with So Mi," Judy’s voice pierced through V’s defenses, dripping with exasperation and hurt.
The words struck V like a dagger, reigniting the guilt she had tried to suppress. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she crumpled to her knees in front of Judy, her tough exterior shattered. "I'm sorry, Judy. I'm so sorry," she whispered, her voice choked with sobs. She wasn’t sure if she was pleading with Judy or seeking forgiveness from herself.
Judy looked at her, shaking her head slowly, tears streaming down her cheeks. She saw V not as the invincible warrior but as a broken soul, still reeling from the trauma of the chip and the harrowing journey to survive. The realization hit Judy with a fierce clarity, and she closed her eyes, drawing a deep breath as she resolved to take control of the situation.
She stepped closer to V, her voice soft but resolute. "Get up," she commanded gently, then repeated, "Get up." Their tear-filled eyes locked, and Judy's voice wavered with emotion. "You're such a stupid gonk, you know that?"
V shook her head, tears flowing freely. "I'm sorry, Jude. I'm so sorry."
Judy hushed her, taking the reins of their turbulent emotions. "V, you’ve been through so much. So much pain, so many emotions... I understand. But you need to know that I’m here for you. I need you to be honest with me, but I also need you to be strong. For both of us."
They stood there, beside the Caliburn, the weight of their shared anguish settling between them. Judy cupped V’s face in her hands, wiping away the tears with her thumbs. They leaned in, their lips meeting in a deep, passionate kiss, brimming with love and forgiveness.
When they finally pulled away, Judy’s eyes were still wet but filled with determination. "Please, take us home," she said, referring to the corpo apartment awaiting them.
V nodded, her heart swelling with a mix of relief and love. "Let's go home," she whispered, taking Judy's hand as they walked back to the car together, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
The corpo apartment was a harmonious blend of contemporary sophistication and traditional Japanese aesthetics. Bathed in warm hues of red and amber orange, the space exuded a sense of comfort and luxury. Bamboo partitions elegantly divided the rooms, and the expansive windows offered a breathtaking view of downtown Night City, the neon lights painting the skyline in vibrant colors.
Amid this tranquil setting, a sound pierced the air—Judy’s moan of pleasure mingling with the steady patter of the shower.
In the bathroom, steam enveloped V and Judy as they shared an intimate and fervent moment beneath the cascading water. V's tongue moved with skilled urgency over Judy’s most sacred area, drawing gasps and moans from her. She kissed and licked with fervor, their passion evident in every touch. Their tattoos, intricate and beautiful, adorned their curves, accentuating their feminine strength and sensuality.
It had been a couple of days already since they moved into their new home. They had spent all their time making love and discussing the future. A future that would involve three women. Judy had gradually warmed up about this arrangement, and at the very least, she was willing to try.
After their intense lovemaking, V stood in the adjacent armory room, her hair still damp. She wore a short yukata that revealed her toned, athletic legs. Inspecting the weapons arrayed on the wall, her eyes lingered on an explosive-round Ba Xing Chong multiple-barrel smart shotgun. She smirked, “You’re a big boy. You and me are gonna cause some damage.”
Her gaze shifted to Johnny’s Malorian pistol on the shelf. Speaking softly, as if addressing Johnny’s memory, she said, “Well, Johnny... It looks like I’m going to finish what you started. I’m going to raze this city to the fucking ground after all.” A mix of amusement and tenderness colored her voice as she recalled their heated arguments about Night City’s fate.
Outside the armory, Judy lay comfortably on the couch in her own short yukata, her tattooed legs on display. She wiggled her toes as she watched the news. V stealthily approached from the side of the couch, surprising Judy by taking her toes into her mouth. Judy’s initial shock melted into pleasure as she relaxed, allowing V to continue. “This feels really good,” Judy murmured, smiling.
Their moment was interrupted by a sudden beep. Judy sat up, pulling her toes from V’s mouth with a slurp. V, also alerted by the sound, stood and went to her computer near the sofa. A message from Songbird flashed on the screen. V opened it, only to see the word “Boo!” in the body of the message.
Before V could react, the power in the apartment went out, plunging them into darkness. Judy called out anxiously, “V?”
A thin laser beam shot from the TV screen, creating a holographic silhouette of sparkling gold and blue lights. V smiled, recognizing the digital figure forming before them—So Mi.
V sat beside Judy on the sofa. Judy looked at V with wide eyes, and V playfully said, “Yeah, she does that sometimes.”
So Mi’s holographic figure took full shape, shimmering with a blend of gold and blue. The light danced in the dim apartment, casting an otherworldly glow on Judy and V. As the image of So Mi solidified, her eyes twinkled mischievously.
“So, you like sucking toes, huh?” she teased, her voice playful and light.
Judy’s eyes widened in shock for a split second before she burst into laughter. The sound was pure, unrestrained, and filled the room with warmth. She clapped her hands together, her joy infectious. V, caught off guard, blushed a deep shade of red, her usual composure slipping away.
As Judy’s laughter echoed, V couldn’t help but join in, her embarrassment dissolving into genuine amusement. The two women laughed together, their mirth spilling out like a refreshing tide, their earlier tension melting away.
So Mi’s hologram watched them with a satisfied smile, her eyes reflecting the light-hearted chaos she had stirred. The apartment, once enveloped in darkness and tension, now resonated with the sound of unrestrained laughter, the perfect antidote to the strain of the day.
In that moment, amidst the peals of laughter and the soft glow of So Mi’s holographic presence, it felt like everything was in its right place.
The hum of the apartment's power resuming was a subtle but comforting sound. Bathed in a warm embrace of red and amber light, the space felt like a refuge, a cocoon of elegance and solace. The room was adorned with bamboo partitions that exuded a sophisticated, Japanese flair. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, the sprawling tapestry of Night City stretched out below, its lights twinkling like distant stars.
So Mi’s holographic form flickered into existence, her presence a shimmering beacon in the center of the room. Her image wove intricate patterns of gold and blue light, casting ethereal shadows that danced along the walls. V and Judy sat side by side on the plush sofa, their earlier tension transformed into a shared anticipation of what was to come.
“It's so good to see you both. I cannot wait to be by your sides.” So Mi began. After a brief pause, she continued...“When I was held captive by Myers, I was a bird trapped in a cage. V, you were the one who set me free. I’ll always hold that gratitude close to my heart. And today, as I look at all three of us, I see a new form of freedom emerging—one that’s about breaking free together.”
Judy’s gaze wandered between V and So Mi, her expression contemplative. “So, we’re all intertwined by this experience. We’ve all been in our own cages.”
So Mi nodded thoughtfully. “Precisely. V, you were bound by a grim fate, and I aided in your escape, just like you once did for me. Judy, you were ensnared by Night City’s relentless grip, and V was the one who helped you break free. We’re all connected by this shared journey of liberation.”
V’s hand found Judy’s, her touch tender and reassuring. “We’re more alike than we might have realized. We’ve all fought against our personal prisons, and now we have a chance to build something beautiful together.”
Judy’s expression softened, the walls of her skepticism beginning to crumble. “I see it now. If we’re all in this together, there’s a chance it could work. I am willing to try.”
So Mi’s smile was a balm of warmth. “It won’t be simple. But we’re all survivors, aren’t we? We’ve faced our demons and emerged stronger. I believe in our ability to make this work. We have the respect and understanding necessary to create something profound.”
V’s heart swelled with a hopeful joy. “I think this will be magical.”
With a playful glint in her eyes, V stretched her arm above her head, her smokey voice laced with mischief. “And also, I’m soooo looking forward to having you both at the same time in my bed.”
Judy’s initial shock gave way to a mischievous grin. She grabbed a pillow from the couch and tossed it at V, the soft thud of it bouncing off V’s face eliciting a burst of laughter from all three. The room reverberated with their shared amusement.
As their laughter subsided, So Mi’s hologram flickered momentarily. “Well, if you’re going to handle the both of us, you might want to start practicing. Do you really think you can manage twenty toes in that pretty mouth of yours?”
The room erupted into another round of hearty laughter, their shared joy palpable.
“So Mi, we’re going to miss you,” V said with love.
So Mi’s image began to wane, her voice a soft promise. “I’ll be with you soon. All three of us, together. But for now, I must take my leave. Before I go, I’m sending you the details of your first corpo target. It’s bound to be... interesting.”
As So Mi’s holographic form dissipated, the apartment’s power surged back to full strength. V turned to Judy with a grin of anticipation. “Looks like it’s time to see what this mission entails.”
Judy’s nod was encouraging. “Go on, babe. Let’s see what’s next.”
V approached the computer, her fingers flying over the touchscreen as she opened the new message. Her eyes scanned the details, and a smile of eager excitement spread across her face
She took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the journey ahead. This was it—a new beginning, a chance to shape the future with her own hands. This wasn’t just about survival anymore; it was about thriving, about taking control of her destiny and rewriting the rules of the game.
As the screen displayed the final details, she whispered to herself, feeling the spirit of Johnny Silverhand beside her.
“Time to get started, samurai. I've got a whole city to burn..."
The End.
